From March 21-23, The Galt Museum & Archives is holding "Nerd Fest," featuring all sorts of comic book, gaming, trivia, space geekery…and even socialization (with possible dancing/touching)!
Nerd Fest kicks off with the history of comic books, followed by a 2-day workshop with leading comic book artist Scott McCloud, a pop culture movie trivia night, and an all night games tourney. Also on the calendar during the Festival are a talk by Canada's first female austronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar, and a Superheroes Dinner!
If I hadn't given up my super powers to save the Earth and live among mortals, I would consider the dinner & dance…however that might trigger me. The games night sounds awesome, as I've been meaning to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons for, like, forever.

My gastronomically-talented friends, the Lethbridge Personal Chefs, are holding an awesome free event at the Galt celebrating local producers. You’ll find yours truly there stuffing his face.
Hey foodies and fans!
Well, the Most Wonderful Time of the Year is nearly upon us, and we’ve teamed up with our friends at the Galt to bring you “A Night at the Museum“, a community-inspired holiday event to kickstart your Christmas shopping and holiday meal planning!
We’ve been all over Southern Alberta, visiting farms, meeting farmers and taking notes to make sure we bring you all the information you need to put a little more Lethbridge in your Christmas cooking. You’ll taste products from and learn more about:
- Vital Green Dairy and Sheep Farm
- Broek Pork Acres
- Pura Vida Beef and Poultry Farm
- Fairwinds Goat Farm
- Driview Lamb Farm
- J&M Farms
- Leffers Brothers Organics
…including where in town you can buy their stuff for yourself! You’ll be surprised just how easy it is to support your community and help Lethbridge grow (and just how good it tastes!). We’ll also have recipes for you to take home of all the goodies you’ll be trying!
The gift shop will be open, so check out its awesome selection of works from local authors, artists and artisans. Passholders get 20% off all gift shop sales for the one night only, so it’s a pretty great night to come in and consider getting yourself a Galt pass
It’s open to the public and there will be food, drinks and fun- what more do you need?? Tell your ma and pa, aunties and uncles, and come help us celebrate our amazing community!

Here’s something that a few of my friends are participating in:
Upcycling is the conversion of items that have outlived their commercial usefulness into new things that are functional or beautiful, or both

My mom, who is more connected than Twitter, gave me the heads up that the Galt Museum once again will be holding their popular “Scotch & Burns” event on January 22.
Join the Galt for this verrry special celebration of the Scottish poet’s birth. Try haggis, join in on the songs, and enjoy performances by the Lethbridge Highland Dancers and Lethbridge Scottish Country Dance Club, all followed by a Scotch Tasting [tickets at the event]. This year, event honours and commemorates long-time supporter Stewart Christie. You don’t have to be Scottish to attend!
Admission is $3 and kids under 6 get in free! Since scotch is an acquired taste, it’s best to train one’s palate by starting young.
