My body delights in rubs and kneads, and I find myself missing her touch upon my body.

Luckily, Lethbridge College’s Massage Therapy students need some hands-on experience, so they are running massage clinics three days a week this semester, from 5:30-8PM Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9:30AM-noon and 1-3:30PM on Saturdays. Twenty dollars gets you an hour, while $10 for 30-min.

What they lack in experience they make up for in fervour, so treat yourself and go for a massage! Call Joanna at 403-320-3211 to set up an appointment.

But considering I know someone (besides my World of Warcraft stalker) who has contracted a mild form of the swine flu, and seemeingly everyone else around me is getting sick, an immunization is probably in order.

With that said, the H1N1 and seasonal flu clinics begin today. All the clinics are drop-in and being held in the West Pavilion at Exhibition Park. The pregnant or infirm are urged to get immunized. If you are not pregnant, you can still get poked.

Here’s a schedule of the upcoming clinics:

Oct. 27, 2009 – 12:00PM to 6:00PM

Oct. 28, 2009 – 12:00PM to 6:00PM

Today, we can all take a break from dieting (like I need to!), and exercise (lol) acceptance for all fatsos, despite their front asses and back boobs.

International No Diet Day aims to raise public awareness of the dangers of improper dieting, weight loss and weight obsession. INDD is an annual celebration of body acceptance and body shape diversity. This day is also dedicated to raise awareness of the dangers in diets. There are several goals to the INDD:

Doubt the idea of one “right” body shape.

Raise awareness to weight discrimination, size bias and fatphobia.

Declare a free day from diets and obsessions to body weight.

etc.

I guess I forgot about the twigs out there. Let’s go to Red Dog for some poutine and hot dogs. We can go back to eating healthy tomorrow.

Thankfully, I work in a relatively safe job, sitting all day behind a computer. That is, unless a chair explodes up my ass. But since I don’t know the true risk of on-the-job accidents, this video will suffice:

This weekend the members of the Roots Garden Club and many others from the UofL community got together to dig the first ever on-campus garden. A communal Campus Community Garden, it boasts 9 private plots available on a first come, first serve basis and a rather sizable communal plot which will have up to 30 people tending the delicious vegetable and plant life that will soon be in this ground. To sign up for the garden individual plot or communal plot, or just to stay in the loop and be involved and participate in this amazing venture, follow this link. Although I missed most of the fun (re: putting in stakes, fences and digging lots…) I did get out there today to see the finished product and help with some clean up.

Many people have worked very hard on getting this project underway in the past two years and it is great to see something this positive bringing so many groups from around the campus together. Now, a campus wide composting project perhaps?

It’s “Pitch-In Canada Week,” where volunteers across the city pick up your garbage, you filthy jerk. The whole point of the week, a.k.a Operation Clean Sweep, is to encourage citizens to be responsible with their trash; to throw it in receptacles or recycle it to keep our environment clean.

Hopefully you can grasp that, as all citizens are encouraged to take 20 minutes out of their day to pick up some litter and make Lethbridge livable agin, especially after this long winter.

Pitch-In Canada is a non-profit and charitable organization that sponsors projects aimed at improving communities and the environment. One of Pitch-In Canada’s many campaigns is the “20 Minute Makeover“. The campaign encourages people of all ages, organizations, businesses and neighbourhoods to take at least 20 minutes out of their day during Pitch-In week (April 20 – 26 in 2009) to pick up litter on school grounds or in business, commercial and residential areas.

If memory serves me correct, I once participated in this week as a youngster. We were split into teams and told whoever picks up the most trash wins a prize. I stuffed all my bags with tumbleweeds, so naturally my team won. The prize was pretty lame – a tin of stale cookies, that the entire class then shared. So much for teamwork. Though I learned an important lesson that day, and that was to never pick up used condoms. Not that I did it, but my stupid classmate did.

Anyway, events are planned over the course of the entire week. Do something.
